BRC Video Interview: Lavabit's Ladar Levison on the Technology of Private Email

When the federal government demanded his encryption keys , Ladar Levison

shut down his private email service , Lavabit, rather than compromise his users’ privacy. Now he’s working on a new approach to email privacy: Dark Mail . The Kickstarter for it funded last week .

Last month, Levison and I sat down over Skype to discuss his battle for privacy and the right to run a business that provides it. Our conversation explored topics from technology to business ethics and politics. In this first video from that interview, we focus on the technology of email privacy.
